Pegfinity Upgrade Tier List
Buy collisions and Hypemeter. Skip most bins. Confirm Graveyard's price before farming it.
This is the overall Pegfinity upgrade ranking for the August 2026 Steam release. It collapses pegs, balls, and gadgets into one spend brain so you can stand in front of the tree and click. For sprite-level detail, still open the peg, ball, and gadget lists. For a numbered shopping list, use the upgrade order planner.
S-tier — buy on sight
Peg value and peg density. Every other toy multiplies these. If bounces pay nothing, Cactus is a decoration.
Hypemeter. Combos that survive between balls are the difference between a pachinko toy and a dead Plinko. See Hypemeter combos.
Cactus. Extra hits without extra launches. Feeder for portal loops. How to unlock it: special pegs.
UFO on a dense board. Beams nearby pegs and can look idle next to lasers. Weak on an empty field, monstrous on a stuffed one.
A-tier — buy when a feeder exists
Frog, Firework, Thermometer. Area hitters. They want density first.
Portal and pinball bumper. Recatch and shove. Patch 1.4 made bumpers score harder. Without a cactus or similar feeder they leak.
Laser. Chains across pegs. Same density rule. Playtester AFK reports are a balance warning, not a promise.
Chicken, with caution. Extra balls help Hypemeter if the queue is not already trash. Read balls first.
B-tier — fine later
Power-up drop chance and legendary peg luck. Nice when the engine already prints cash. Not a first-hour node.
Portal width. Only after the portal is recatching something you care about.
Late multiplier percents. They scale a board that already hits. They do not create a board.
Cannon. Extra ball as a gadget. Good after density, noisy before.
C-tier — skip on a completion path
Most basket and bin nodes. Steam reviews call them low value for the investment. Catching is not your early problem. Hitting is. Details in gadgets.
Max combo multiplier nodes that players already called disappointing. A forum thread exists for a reason. Prefer extra collisions.
Early extra ball types. Beach balls can be cute. Basketballs can dilute watermelons you wanted. Unlock variety after the queue already works.
Gumball machine as an opener. Chaos without a scoring engine.
Bug bucket
Graveyard / gravestone. Launch reviews reported 90 million instead of 9 million. Do not treat that price as a skill issue. Check known issues and skip until it looks human.
How to apply the list in a session
Stand on the tree. If the cheap node is S or A, buy it. If the cheap node is C, skip even if you can afford it. If two A-tier nodes compete, prefer the one that creates hits over the one that catches balls. Then go play; do not theorycraft for twenty minutes. Pegfinity boards are random and a live cactus beats a perfect spreadsheet.
New players should still read How to Play so they know what a run is. Rankings do not replace controls if you cannot land a top-row shot yet. Once you can, this list is the whole mid-game.
Why this disagrees with tooltips
Tooltips sell fantasy: more baskets, more ball types, bigger max combo. Steam’s first day already tested those fantasies. Bins underpay. Ball zoos underpay. Combo-max underpays. Pegs that shoot, beam, or explode overpay. The wiki sides with collisions because that is what the footage and the reviews both show. When a patch changes prices, we will move rows. The collision rule should survive the patch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers players ask after the Steam launch.
What is the first upgrade I should buy?
Peg value or density, then Hypemeter, then Cactus. The numbered path is on the upgrade order planner.
Are basket upgrades ever S-tier?
Not on a first completion. They become reasonable only when extra balls are overflowing. Most players never need the full bin branch.
Where do gadgets sit on this list?
Portal, laser, and bumper are A-tier with a feeder and C-tier without. See the gadget tier list for the split.
Should I farm Graveyard to finish the tree?
Not while the price looks like an extra zero. Confirm on known issues.
