Demo Changelog

The Pegfinity demo lived on itch.io and Steam Next Fest before 1.0. Fragment Ventures posted short devlogs. This page summarises the ones we can name so Steam players understand that some juice they see in 1.0 started as demo patches. It is history, not a promise that every demo file still installs.

Full launch context: launch notes. Live bugs: known issues.

Demo live on Steam and itch

The studio announced the demo with a 35-upgrade cap, cactus, bouncy pegs, thermometer, UFOs, bonus baskets, Hypemeter, and the core loop. Testers could skip and save for expensive nodes. That skip rule is why this wiki never tells you to buy every basket.

v1.1

A 1.1 demo update exists in the itch timeline as an early follow-up after the demo went live. Public notes were brief. Treat 1.1 as “they were already patching,” not as a fake itemised list. We will not invent bullet points that were not posted.

v1.2 — balancing patch

1.2 is labelled as a balancing patch in the itch history. Demo comments had already complained that some upgrades took too many runs and that some effects were tiny. 1.2 is the studio answering that class of feedback. If 1.0 still feels linear, that is a remaining design argument — see the review — not proof they never tried.

v1.4 — more juicy

The 1.4 itch post is specific:

  • Frog peg now calculates a better tongue direction for points.
  • Laser beams chain with more juice.
  • Pinball gadget scores and hits harder on ball impact.
  • Small game and UI bug fixes.

Those three toys sit on our peg and gadget lists with that patch in mind. If a frog tongue looks smarter than a random lick, 1.4 is why. If a bumper suddenly pays, 1.4 is why.

What demo comments still matter in 1.0

  • Laser plus UFO can feel idle. Players asked for timeouts.
  • Cactus plus portal can feel infinite.
  • Upgrade descriptions needed clarity; some testers still wanted more, cheaper nodes instead of rare huge ones.
  • Mobile and Deck feel good because the loop is one button. Mobile as a store is a future idea the developer mentioned, not a shipped 1.0 platform.
  • Sound bugs had a dedicated thread during the demo.

How to use this changelog as a player

Do not install random zip files from the internet. If you want the demo, use itch.io or the Steam demo app when it is listed. If you own 1.0, you do not need 1.4 files. You need How to Play and a skip list.

Steam 1.2.x after launch lives on patch notes, not in this demo history. Demo 1.4 is the last named juice patch from itch. The numbered Steam notes start at 1.2.1 and cover Graveyard, chests, charge, and accessibility. If your 1.0 frog tongue already aims at better scores, thank that itch post. If your bumper suddenly pays, thank that itch post. Then go spend on Cactus using the upgrade order planner, not on a second copy of the demo zip.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players ask after the Steam launch.

Do I need the demo if I own Pegfinity on Steam?

No. 1.0 is the full tree. The demo is a 35-upgrade slice for people who have not bought it yet.

What did patch 1.4 change?

Smarter frog tongues, juicier laser chains, stronger scoring pinball, plus small bug fixes — according to the itch.devlog.

Will idle laser UFO loops be patched?

Playtesters asked for timeouts. Watch known issues and Steam news. This page will not pretend a fix shipped until it is posted.

Is mobile out?

No. The developer talked about it after Deck comments. Steam 1.0 is the PC release.
